The wedding week

Like I said, the week before the wedding was a bit bittersweet, but everything went off without a hitch. Monday was a holiday, and I took the rest of the week off to prepare for our big day. However, things were done so far in advance that those days were not overly busy. I spent some time in the morning with my new found love, yoga, and then headed to the tanning bed. I had appointments on Tuesday and Wednesday morning, my Lady Landowner workshop Wednesday afternoon, and then the visitation Wednesday night. This was the point when I got a little "nervous" about the next couple of days.

The tuxes were suppose to be in on Tuesday, but as of 3 p.m. on Wednesday had not arrived in Rantoul. So, instead of my planned trip to the tux shop, mom and dad were going to pick them up on their way to Onarga that night. Great idea, except that Kirk's pants were too short, Ron's pants were too big, both Trever and I could fit in his jacket, Greg, Josh, and John didn't get a tux and Ryan didn't have any pants at all! The only 2 with no problems were dad and Seth.

On Thursday there was another delivery of tux parts that fixed part of the problems and a final delivery on Friday completed everything. A special delivery of suspenders on Saturday, courtesy again of Grandpa Ficklin, made sure the ushers kept their pants on for the duration of the night.

Friday was a day of relaxation and pampering for the girls. We spent the day at Margo's Salon and Day Spa in Paxton. They catered to us all day, including manicures, pedicures, massages, hair styling and lunch. We were pretty much the only ones scheduled for the day so we had the run of the place.

About the time we were ready to leave Paxton and head to the rehearsal, the floods began. When we pulled up to the church, Seminary street was flooded. I missed Kevin carrying Nicole across the street, but I'm sure it was a sight! Then it was time to head out to the golf course for dinner, and it was wonderful! We enjoyed spending some time with the friends and family that had invested so much in our wedding. As much fun as it is to be a bridesmaid, groomsman, usher, parent of the bride and groom, etc...we know how expensive and time consuming it is and we thank all of them for everything they did, and continue to do, for us.

Check back tomorrow for an update on our wedding day! And please leave comments!

Hey there newlyweds!! Love reading the blog, keep up the good work on it. I didn't realize there were so many issues with the tuxes, goodness! Graham is still talking about all the rain and flooded streets in Onarga that night, especially since Michael made it a point to drive through as many puddles as he could!
