Rolling Over

Claire rolled over!

Last night we were in the kitchen getting dinner ready and Trever set Claire on the her tummy on the floor and she almost instantly "rolled over". I told him it didn't count and that she actually fell over because of the way he put her down. He put her back on her tummy and spread her arms out so she could steady herself and wouldn't fall over. I started cutting up vegetables for dinner and when I turned around she was on her back!

Then, this morning, when I went to get her out of her crib, she was laying on her tummy and had shimmied herself towards one end of the bed! Last night I put her down on her back in the middle of the bed! She was such a happy baby this morning!

Claire has also been sleeping through the night ever night for the last couple of weeks. She goes down about 8:30 and sleeps until sometime between 5:30 and 6:30!

Claire is such a wonderful baby! She really is spoiling us!

Tonight we are meeting with the preacher about Claire's baptism. Tomorrow night Grandma Marge & Papa Wayne are coming to hang out with Claire while Trever and I go to a Young Ag Leaders outing. Saturday we have no plans and Sunday we are going to Bellflower for church and then to Bloomington for the Builta Reunion. We are so excited to share Claire with our extended family, and our church family!

Our weekend

We had a wonderful weekend! No real plans, beautiful weather, ahhh...life is good! Here's a sneak peak of what happened around our place when we didn't have to be out and about all weekend.

Friday night the Behrends family came for a visit and brought Claire a super comfortable tie blanket that received 1st place at the Kankakee County Fair. They also brought us some yummy dinner and some green beans. Claire even helped me snap the green beans!

Saturday morning Grandma Marge and Papa Wayne came up and picked up their wonderful Black Nugget Angus Beef and then came to visit for a while. Then we went to see Gammy and Grandpa Kuipers and take their meat to them. We hung out for a while and got the grand tour of their new house.

Then we came home and Claire decided she wanted to play on facebook. She was really hoping that Cousin Maddi would be on the webcam so they could have a virtual play date.

Sunday morning we went to church and Claire helped me scrapbook. We tried to get a picture for my new Mommy & Me frame, but didn't get anything too exciting. There aren't many pictures of Claire and me since I'm usually the one behind the camera.

It was very nice to be able to relax a little bit this weekend. The house was fairly well picked up since we had company Friday night so I could do something besides clean and feed a baby.

Look at me!

Claire is getting so strong and holds her head up even higher now. She is getting so close to rolling over. I'm pretty sure she rolled over yesterday on the bed and fell asleep. But, because it was on the soft bed and I was sitting next to her, I'm pretty sure she fell over more than she rolled over. She's not a huge fan of tummy time, so getting a picture of her smiling while on her tummy is virtually impossible!

State Fair

Claire was extremely well behaved during her first visit to the Illinois State Fair. We got a good start Friday morning and headed to Springfield. Despite a little fussing about Chenoa she slept the rest of the trip. We spent most of Friday hanging out between the barrow show and the heifer show with Grandma Marge and Papa Wayne. The Angus heifers showed last and didn't finish up until around 7 p.m.! We headed to the hotel, checked in, and walked across the street to Bennigans for dinner.

We made Claire a nice little bed in the corner of the hotel room with a couple of blankets. Thank God the kid can sleep anywhere! In the middle of the night she woke us up making some really funny noises. She was kind of wheezy and gagging so I took her to the bathroom knowing that the gagging had ended up with messes in the past. She spent the rest of the night in bed with us and woke up smiling!

Saturday was a big day at the fair and we got to see lots of people. We didn't see as much of the show since Trever doesn't care as much to watch the steers. But, we did get to see Marla, John & Jeremiah and Josh, Maggie & Owen. We ran in to the Todd's when we were visiting the Butter Cow and John noticed that Claire's face was beginning to turn red like she was working up a nice present for us. Before he had the chance to warn us it was coming, Claire had EXPLODED all over herself and her stroller. It was the worst explosion we've seen yet! We wheeled her out in to the yard by the Dairy Building and litterally hosed her off! Once we used up all of our wipes and most of Jeremiah's, the sink was our only opiton! Thanks to our friends who run the Dairy Building and the ladies at the DCFS tent we had a fairly clean baby again! However, I'm sure we'll point that location out every time she goes to the fair!

Sunday Claire and I skipped church because she sounded pretty congested again. I put her in the swing and she was perfectly content for a couple of hours. We spent most of the afternoon at home and then headed for Mexican food and Wal-Mart in Rantoul. She was pretty fussy during that trip and hung out with her daddy in the car for quite a bit.

This morning she woke up sounding pretty congested again. We used some "nose candy" and it helps quite a bit. We sent her to the babysitters today since we are 99% sure that's where the cold came from anyway! I haven't gotten a call from Miss Mary telling me to come get her so hopefully she's feling better!

I didn't take any pictures at the fair, but I will say that Claire was amazingly well behaved in the heat and survived all the noise from the show ring.

We don't have much going on this week yet, but I'm sure that will change soon!

A day at the Lake!

Last Saturday we took Claire to visit Uncle Kenneth, Aunt Kathi and Cousin Kara at Lake Mattoon. Unfortunately someone (her father) thought she was too little to get in the water, and they don't make life jackets that little so she couldn't go on a boat ride either. But she looked awfully darn cute playing the part!

We started out the day in her little beach outfit that Grandma Marge bought at a garage sale. Before leaving home she decided to vomit all over it. Then we changed in to her Ron Jon Surf Shop outfit from "Aunt" Lori & "Uncle" Tom. Before we got to the lake she decided to fill her drawers and let a good amount seep out on to her nice white outfit. Once we got to the lake she got wardrobe change 3 of the day in to her adorable swimsuit, cover-up and sun hat from Aunt Kathi and Kara.

Here she is in her adorable swimsuit!

Kara and her friend Amy had a good time playing with Claire. The girls and Jake hung out with Claire while Trever and I went for a boat ride. When we got back she had outfit #4 of the day on. Luckily it was because she had gotten a little damp from sitting on laps of people wearing wet swimsuits, not because she'd had another accident.

I took my camera with me when we went on our boat ride. Here is a picture of my handsome husband with the wake splashing in the background.

In other news, Claire and her daddy survived their first night without me Monday night while I was on a trip to St. Louis for work. Everyone survived and Claire was in a great mood when I got home last night! We're heading to Springfield Friday for the Illinois State Fair and we are looking forward to introducing our little girl to lots of our friends.

8 weeks!

Claire celebrated her 8 week birthday with 3 shots, 2 puppy dog bandages, a trip to Dave's, and lots of cuddle time with her mama!

She had her first appointment with Dr. A yesterday. Our nurse was my cousin Becky who was one of our nurses at the hospital when Claire was born. Claire was full of smiles for Miss Becky and Dr. A until they turned on her. They had a tag team attack and gave her 3 shots all at once! The poor kid screamed so hard that no sound came out! There were even a couple of tears that came out of those itty bitty eyes! But before too long she was sound asleep and a great grocery shopper.

She was a bit whiney the rest of the afternoon. She would fall asleep on the couch with me, but the second I moved she was wide awake. Not even the swing worked yesterday. Finally about 4:30 I gave her a little bit of Tylenol and she was back to her old self. That meant that we could take a couple of 8 week pictures with the pink bear.

11 pounds 1 ounce
22 inches long

This will probably be the last of the pictures for a while. I'm going to start doing them every month on the 11th (if I remember).

Miss Mary

Claire spent her first day at Miss Mary's house yesterday. Trever dropped her off a little after 7 and I picked her up a little after noon. She was asleep when her daddy dropped her off and apparently she woke up about 20 minutes before I got there. Here is her picture with her "book bag" before she headed out.

Today she stayed at Miss Mary's house until about 2 o'clock. Tomorrow I'm going to let her stay the entire day and see how it goes and I'm going to come home and do something for me.

Look for an update sometime after Thursday morning. She goes to a new doctor for s-h-o-t-s.
